Slack Happy

Okay, we know, we're slackers.  It's been a month since our last post!  We have been too busy playing with all our birthday toys, I guess.  PLUS it has been so nice out - we have been spending lots of time at the park and swinging in Ba and Da's losha lozzia loggia.

Let's see.  The day after our birthday party, we did the March of Dimes' March for Babies.  It was cold, but still fun.  Our cousins Braden and Calen were there, so of course we had fun.   Afterwards, we went to our friend Maeve's house for dinner.  Our friend Liana was there, too.  It was a blast!  Soon after, Mom and Dad started letting us feed ourselves yogurt.  Sweet.....but messy!

The next weekend was Mother's Day.  We let Mom take us to the Mother's Day 5K (apparently this is now a tradition).  The cool part was that Aunt Jane was in town and could come with us!  And GAC (Great Aunt Cheryl) and her sister Stephanie were there, too.  Fun times!  Of course, GAM bought us t-shirts and cheered us on the entire time. 

As you can see, this year was much warmer than last year:

Did you know how fun fire pits can be in the summer?  Mom and Dad let us play in theirs (okay, we started behind their backs), and wow!  We are artists (pronounced ar-teests) - the face-painting kind, I mean.  Mom and Dad have learned to clean out the pit when they are done with fires because, whoa nelly does this create a mess.  Afterwards we went straight to bath time.  You may have already been thinking this, but what do you suppose happens to fine ash in your face and hair when you pour water over it?  You guessed it.  Paste!  Mom and Dad don't have pictures of this, but you can imagine their sigh of relief once the whole ordeal was over.

Mom and Dad brought us out to the Legends for Grandpa's birthday.  It was Legendary!  We saw race cars and dinosaurs!  And our cousin Nick was there, which made us very happy.

What you don't see in the above picture is the very large, clear-as-day sign that says no climbing in the cars!  I know, we are rebels.  To be fair, we can't read so the parental units are to blame for our faux pas.

Now that we are talking more, we are realizing how cool it is to ask for what we want.  We usually get it!  Especially when we say please.  We ask for walks all the time.  Last night we insisted Mom and Da take us on one and....as we were hoping....they took us to the park!  We love this one area with rubber 'bouncy' mulch. 

Mom and Dad are so clueless.  Since we love the bouncy mulch so much, they thought we would love the bouncy house at the NICU reunion last weekend.  Seriously?!  We can't jump two inches off the ground so even walking in that monstrosity of a "House of Fun" was more than we cared to handle.  We were not impressed and instead bee-lined over to the oatmeal raisin cookies.  We saw our NICU friend Maddie and our nurse Nancy.  Good times!

GAB (Great Aunt Betsy) came in town for her birthday!  How fun.  She brought us cheese curds!  Does she know what we like or what?  Mmmmm, speaking of the curds, I think there are some left.  I'm going to go ask for some now ("cheese please").

Zoolander

Hi to all you zoo keepers out there, it's David here to tell you all about our second birthday party.  Mom and Dad had been preparing us for weeks on how to say "two."  I'm not really one to brag.....okay maybe a little, but Margot and I totally nailed our age when asked.  Ba totally outdid herself with the decorations - we had a zoo animal theme.  It was really neato.  

 All the usual adults were there, but we also had some friends closer to our age come - our cousins Braden and Calen, and our friends Bennett and Paige.  We had fun swinging with everyone and playing on our new chairs.  

 Boy was I glad Bennett was swinging with me.  I was worried I would grow out of the swing soon.  This confirms I have a couple more years.  Phew.

One of our favorite things about the party had to be the unlimited animal crackers!  Lions and tigers and bears oh my!  We were in heaven.  Large amounts of the party passed where I would not even take my eyes or hands away from the bowl.

I'll leave you with a final shot of me sneaking up on Da (with my "2" visor).  Hilarious.  He loves it when I sneak up on him.  Everyone does, really.  I'm not sure how effective I am since I am always giggling from the time I get the idea to do it until the dastardly deed is done.  I'll have to think about that. We LOVE the Easter Bunny

Mom broke her wrist last week, so she hasn't been helping us with the computer as much.  Ugh.  Sorry we haven't posted in a while.  This is Margot with an Easter recap.  By the way, Easter rocks!  We LOVE the Easter Bunny.  Seriously, how cool is he?  He brought us Easter baskets with eggs filled with Cheerios and toys and yogurt melts.  You would think that would be enough to make me happy, but perhaps my favorite part of Easter was digging in the back yard and putting dirt and sticks in my hair.  David was up to his usual tricks of pseudo engineering - remember the age and context.  He was taking plastic eggs apart and putting them back together after eating the oaty heart-healthy goodness they once entailed.  Later on that day Mom and Dad checked on us in our room at one point, and David had moved the book shelf full of stuffed animals and pulled out the cord to our night light.  When Mom and Dad ran toward him he plugged it in as if he had done it a hundred times that afternoon.  What a stinker!  They are already figuring out ways to keep us from moving our furniture.  They are such control freaks.  They should really try taking two hour naps in the afternoon or whatever a chill pill is that I hear about from time to time.  Anyway, enjoy the weather, we are.

Youth Springs Eternal

Hi guys....it's Margot. Are you all enjoying the weather as much as we are?  Apparently Mom and Dad had been holding out on us.  They have been taking us to the park, letting us swing in Ba and Da's courtyard, and monitoring us on our side patio.  Did you know we have a back yard?!  We have been having so much fun playing in it and making leaf and stick piles.  There are even flowers back there!

We've been playing with our friends Bennett and Paige a lot.  Here is a shot of David with his latest favorite toy and one of me dancing with Barney at their house.

Something else happened this week that was really great.  We had Aunt Lulu in town!  Then Grandma and Grandpa came home from Mexico, and we got to dine with them, Uncle Todd, Aunt Kim, and cousin Nick.  It was fantastic!  Eating at our favorite BBQ joint (Arthur Bryant's of course) didn't hurt matters either.

Shoes and Zapatos and so on

Hi there....it's David.  So, if any of you have been around Margot lately, you know she LOVES shoes.  Socks, too, but the girl is really crazy about her shoes.  I, myself, am a boot man, but Margot likes shoes so much she has even been trying to take them from Mom, Dad, and Aunt Martha.  Check out this video where she is caught red-footed with Martha's flats.

Daddy

Hi fans, it's David.  I thought I'd show you a video mom caught of how enamored Margot is with Daddy.  It's pretty funny - she was filming us when he was getting home from work (what is work?).  Truth be told, I'm enamored with him, too!
